IM UK

The KTC has a member competing in this weekends IM UK. You my know him, he teaches at Forest Hill. No that's not a delinquent school, it is where the folks of Midhurst send their offspring to be educated. This former photographer was born & raised in Windsor, On. and didn't see a hill until he was nearly 14 yrs of age when on a family excursion they past through Chatham,ON. that has an overpass. His name Tim Hatch. In New Mexico they have name a city after him. Tim has never been on Oprah or Jimmy Fallon. His favourite coffee is Starbucks. He puts mayonnaise on his pancakes and likes bright coloured socks. Tim is well educated and is an avid reader. He can recite "Green Eggs & Ham" from memory. His favourite movie is "Spiderman". Tim spends most of his time staying in touch with his lovely Mother or straighten the spokes on his Specialized bike. Tim is a naturally gifted athlete. Many, might not know this, but Tim played WR in High School football & today still plays goalie. For years, I thought this was just a tale or he was simply delusional until recently I saw first hand an expensive pair of hand-stitched goalie pads in Tim's basement. I figure know one in their right mind would go the those extraordinary lengths just to say they play between the pipes. Tim also enjoys map-reading, puzzles, monopoly, trident gum, cooking, and sanding wood. Tim has competed in many Ironman events including Louisville, Arizona, Lake Placid & Elmvale. This coming sunday Tim will make us proud and compete against the Brits in IM Uk. Go get em Tim.

TT Results July 29th

At Tuesday Time trials Kirsten Lowery rocked. Kirsten is in line for most improved KTC member of the year! Kirsten knocked 2 minutes off her PB time. I'd also like to mention that John Welsh (not to be confused with Joe Walsh who sang 'rocky mountain high") knocked 20 seconds off his PB. Both these accomplishments are large in stature as the crosswinds were gusting at significant levels.

Before the Thunder in Bala

What a magnificent place. 432 finishes did the Bala Sprint as part of HSBC race. KTC was well represented. Matt "King Lear" Doucette punished the course with a time of 1 hr 55 mins. John Welsh showed he's got the magic with a time of 1 hr 51 mins. Kirsten Lowery placed a very respectable time of 2 hrs & 4mins. Paul Mallory finished with a time of 2 hrs & 24 mins.
Lloyd Smith had an amazing time of 1 hr 44 minutes. John Dow hammered the course with a time 1 hr 42 minutes. Asked after the race for any insider secrets, John replied, "always get yourself into the yellow swim caps as they have least resistance & drag of all the colour spectrum in fresh water lakes" Yours truly had a great race as well with the best swim of the year 15 m 10s perhaps indicating all that time in the water & with the Barrie Masters is starting to pay off.

Barefoot

There has been some advantages put forth to walking & running barefoot. I read this article in this morning's Globe & Mail, & immediately thought of the time Shawn Patton ran a Sprint race barefoot or more recently when Mark Harrison at IM South Africa removed his shoes and ran barefoot for the last portion of the race.

Club Championships Results

Boo Hoo! We didn't make it in the top 3 of the Club Championships, as we have the past 2 years. The club that won is very small so its easy to score higher. They won last year with only 12 members! So, be proud to have such a big club and we can always get 'em next year! Great Job to those that made it in the race and made us look good! GO KTC GO!
