Group ride

Hey, another one well done!
We have got lucky with the weather this time.
Was very nice to see all of you, Baydogs, with the big smile on your face ready to have fun.
I was a bid tired but cranked me up when I saw my group again.
Thanks again to Ted (and his group leaderS) to make it kind of easy for us.
Let's kick the season soon and for the one you already had done it, congrats!
Happy training :)

Mississauga Marathon

Congratulations to all who ran the Half & Full marathon last saturday. Kevin O'Neill was training many for this race and judging by the results Kevin, you should be very pleased. The list of names are far too numerous to mention all both from the Barrie Road Runners and the Barrie TC. To see a complete list go to www.sportsstats.ca
Some of the Barrie TC members who ran the full marathon were : Kevin O'Neill doing a sub 3, Jon Dow doing 3hr 9 mins and Mark Harrison who ran the marathon after only 13 days rest from IMSG. (Mark you're crazy). Congratulations to Matt Doucette, Calvin Chu, Doug Austin, Marie White, Paul Harber and many more who completed the Half.

Polcz hammers swim & bike at 70.3 Florida

Congratulations to Joseph (Joe) Polcz who last Saturday tackled 70.3 Florida. Joseph is the original historian who coined, "Less is More" training. Joe is a loyal Baydog who performed admirably. Mr. Polcz has a 39.02 minute swim and 2hr 52 min 28 sec. bike split averaging 31.4 km/hr or 19.5 mph. Joe congratulations from the Barrie TC. Picture, Joe is the one handling the camera.

3 Triathletes killed in Quebec

This week a tragedy occurred in Quebec where a pick-up truck struck and killed three triathletes on their way to a training camp. An event like this will play on all of our minds every time we suit up to go for a ride. As we ride we must all remember our vulnerability and act accordingly. Road safety is something we must never become lazy about. We need to make sure we take appropriate roads for our training, ensure our bikes are in good operational condition, follow all the rules of the road (which are virtually the same as for an automobile). On top of this we have to remember that even if we were right we will never win in a disagreement with a vehicle, so we must always be cautious and avoid risky situations out-right. A wise man once said; “One thing you do not want written on your tombstone is “He had the right-of-way””.
When in doubt, get off the road!
Here is a link describing the event.

Ride safe!!

My Bike Box & Why we LOVE Westjet.

Genevieve, my bike box. Trapezoid in shape. Google trapezoid. The manufacturer is B & W International. I'm working on a price. I believe Tim Hatch also has the same Bike Box. Personally I love it.
By the way, a little note from Mark Harrison and I, we LOVE Westjet!!!!! Why do we love Westjet? Because Westjet doesn't charge for your bike box. All you have to do is flash your "good-looking guy discount card" [ LOL ok, that's a bad joke].
Westjet you're the BEST!!!!
